clinch stud screw self clinching press fit fastener

Clinch Stud

The clinch stud, also known as a self-clinching stud or press-fit stud / screw, is a fastener that is pressed into thin sheet metal to create a fastening option for adjacent components.

By cold forming the surrounding material, the clinch stud is set into a prefabricated pilot hole in the component. During the press-in process, the head underside of the stud is anchored in the sheet metal.

Clinch studs offer a fast and reliable method of fastening components in thin materials, especially when conventional threads cannot be used.

Overview of Clinch Studs

Our automation-grade clinch studs are available in various designs and differ in terms of a number of features:

Sheet thickness - The minimum sheet thickness should be observed to ensure reliable fastening in the component.

Thread size - Thread sizes range from metric sizes M5 to M12.

Head diameter - The head diameter determines the outer diameter of the head of the press-fit stud to ensure good pull-through force.

Head serration - Self-clinching studs can have various knurls on the head. Pronounced head ribbing ensures high torque absorption.

Collar - The collar height can vary and has an influence on the push-out forces.

Special designs - A variety of parameters relating to the area of application, geometry, properties and surface can be adapted to your requirements.
