Several standardized setting heads for in-die automation are available for clinching fasteners such as clinch nuts and studs, rivet nuts and slide bearings. The setting depends on the processing direction and joining process of the fastener.

Fully automatic, process-safe assembly of clinching and self-piercing fasteners
Setting heads for in-die automation enable a fully automatic, process-safe assembly of clinching and self-piercing fasteners. Various materials such as thin and thick metal sheets and plastic can be processed in-die with setting heads optimized for this purpose. Different processing directions like vertically up and down, horizontally and vertically, and even angular positions are possible depending on the application type. Processing in a single working step is made without and with pre-punching for various clinching fasteners.
Operation functions of the setting heads in stamping and forming tools in general
The AUTORIV A100 setting head is integrated into the stamping and forming tool. According to requirements, one or several setting heads are installed into the tool and synchronized with the tool movement. The master control system enables the setting operation. The processing begins when the fastener is in the correct setting position only. The feeding system and the electrical components are located outside the dangerous area of the tool. The fasteners are transferred to a feed hopper with a large capacity.
