Blind riveting

Two or more material layers are connected by the use of a blind rivet.

In blind riveting as a joining process of fasteners, the blind rivet is picked up at the mandrel and placed into the pre-drill of the component. Then, pulling force is applied to the blind rivet fastener via the mandrel. Thereby, the rivet is deformed on the rear side of the component, which leads to a form-fitting joint between the blind rivet and all material layers.

At the end of the pulling process, the mandrel is torn off and removed. For the setting process, the joining position only needs to be accessible from one side. The material layers must have a fitting pilot hole for the fastener.
